Meetings 2009 - Auckland

Suzanne Rowe and myself attended the trade expo "Meetings 2009" last month. This is where hotels, tourism operators, regional tourism organisations, etc, get together and update buyers on what the hotel has to offer. A buyer can be anyone who is interested in both our conference facilities and/or accommodation, and what we have to offer.

Even though attendance was down on last year it was certainly a productive week. Many new organisations were very interested in the Latimer Hotel, and its unique history (especially as we one of the last remaining family hotels in Christchurch). There was a wonderful Gala Night at the TelstraClear Centre in Manukau. The children singing from Mt Roskill Primary School, and the Hip Hop Dancers heading to Las Vegas the following week were truly amazing. And what can I say about the Tina Turner performance (unfortunately not the Tina Turner, but an impressive lookalike none the same). It was fantastic.

So, all in all, a well worthwhile week, and am sure we can expect the same professionalism when we are back at Sky City next year.
